Anna Pirozzi returns at Wiener Staatsoper in a production as Lady Macbeth. Macbeth and his wife ascend the royal throne with several murders. Bad premonitions, fears and feelings of guilt gradually lead to the complete breakdown of the couple. Giuseppe Verdi‘s artistic exploration of the work of William Shakespeare began with Macbeth. His Macbeth, which premiered in 1611, inspired Verdi to create an opera that was new at the time, opening up new musical horizons and risking many stylistic experiments. His tenth opera marks a departure from the tradition of Italian music theater in many respects. Verdi herself did not ask the interpreter of Lady Macbeth for a simple and beautiful song, but for an expressive tonal language that does not stop at empty, even ugly tones.
