Since her debut in 2012 at Teatro Regio of Turin as Amelia in Un Ballo in Maschera of Giuseppe Verdi, Anna Pirozzi has confirmed to be the most electrifying dramatic soprano of her generation, inspiring Corriere della Sera to define her as “an extraordinary dramatic soprano of coloratura who will in time be able to set out in the footsteps of Anita Cerquetti, the greatest dramatic color soprano from 1945 until today."
Anna Pirozzi made her debut at the Salzburg Festival on 2014 under the musical direction of Riccardo Muti as Abigaille in Nabucco, role which she performed too in many other theaters, such as: Arena di Verona, Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in Valencia, NCPA Beijing, Opera de Monte-Carlo, New Israeli Opera of Tel Aviv, Opera Houses of Leipzig and Stuttgart, Las Palmas, Menorca, at the Sanxay Festival , Bologna, Florence, Parma, Palermo and Cagliari and as well as at Teatro alla Scala of Milan.
On 2018, Anna debuted three major sopran roles, at Gran Teatre de Liceu of Barcelona as Odabella in Attila, Norma at the ABAO Bilbao and Manon Lescaut at the Opera de Liège.
On 2016 and 2017 Anna debuted at the San Francisco Opera as Maddalena di Coigny in Andrea Chénier, repurposed at ABAO of Bilbao at Teatro Real in Madrid as Lady Macbeth in Macbeth alongside Plácido Domingo, debut role as Turandot with The Israel Philharmonic under the musical direction of Zubin Mehta; Macbeth at the Teatro Massimo of Palermo, at Teatro Regio Turin and at Edinburgh Festival.
Recent engagements have led her at Teatre Real of Madrid as Aida, Teatro alla Scala in the role of Lucrezia Contarini in I due Foscari, at the Royal Opera House in London as Leonora in Il trovatore, at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Monaco as Amelia in Un ballo in maschera, at ABAO – Bilbao opera as Elisabetta I in Roberto Devereux, at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Astana Opera, Turin, Rome and Lipsia, Soirèe Lyrique de Sanxay in the role of Tosca; in São Paulo, Bologna and Cagliari in the role of Lady Macbeth; in Rome as Elvira in Ernani; at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples as Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana, at the Carlo Felice Theater in Genoa as the protagonist of Luisa Miller; at Teatro Comunale di Bologna as Leonora in Il trovatore; in Parma as Amelia in Un ballo in maschera; at the Caracalla Festival as Santuzza, a role re-proposed also at the Macerata Opera Festival along with that of Nedda in Pagliacci; at Teatro Regio of Turin in the role of Amelia in Un ballo in maschera in 2012, was her first engagement in an important theater as well as a real turning point of her career.
Anna Pirozzi collaborates regularly with the most internationally renowned conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Nello Santi, Nicola Luisotti, Daniel Oren, Donato Renzetti, Gianandrea Noseda, Michele Mariotti and Renato Palumbo etc. Among the last engagements of this year, Anna will perform at Teatro Regio of Parma in Lady Macbeth at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Opera de Lyon and Theatre de Champs-Elysée as Abigaille , at Teatro Colon of Buenos Aires as Norma, title-role.
On 2019, Anna will debut in La Forza del destino in the Municipal Theaters of Piacenza and Modena, then La Gioconda at Gran Theatre de Liceu of Barcelona and Madame Butterfly at the Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa. Born in Naples, the soprano began her vocal studies at the Istituto Musicale Pareggiato of Valle d’Aosta and State Conservatory “Giuseppe Verdi “of Turin.
