Anna Pirozi debuts the title role of Adriana Lecouvreur at the Bastille Theater in Paris. Adriana Lecouvreur was the work that consecrated Francesco Cilea as one of the most interesting Italian composers in the musical panorama of post-Verdi realism. The libretto by Arturo Colanutti is based on a drama by Eugène Scribe and Ernest Legouvé, the workhorse of many great theater interpreters of the late nineteenth century such as Sara Bernhardt and Eleonora Duse. The story itself focuses on the love affairs and tragic end of the actress Adriana Lecouvreur, a character who really existed, on whom Cilea researched in depth to try to describe her figure and character in the most coherent way possible. Musical director is Jader Bignamini
